Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from May 27 at 3:45 PM EDT until May 28 at 2:00 PM EDT.

Affected Areas

Central Morgan County in southeastern Ohio, including McConnelsville and Malta. Flooding of the Muskingum River at and near McConnelsville is imminent or occurring.

It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

Expected Conditions

At 3:33 PM EDT, the gauge at McConnelsville on the Muskingum River was reading 8 feet and rising. The river is forecast to crest near 8.8 feet this evening. At stages of 8.5 feet, Route 669 above Malta and other roads along the river will experience flooding. Low-lying areas adjacent to the river, including boat ramps, will also experience flooding.
