Flood Warning issued by NWS Chicago IL effective June 12 at 7:02PM CDT until June 14 at 1:00AM CDT.
Affected Areas
Lake County, IN and Newton County, IN. Kankakee River from near I-65 and De Motte downstream to the IL/IN state line, including the Shelby gauge.
What You Should Do
Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
Expected Conditions
Minor flooding is forecast. At 10.5 feet, water overflows low-lying river banks along Bluegrass Road east of Sumava Resorts and along Westwood Drive and Island Boulevard near Shelby. Water begins to be diverted through the Blackberry Marsh Spillway.
Timeline
Alert in effect until early Sunday morning. River expected to crest near flood stage tonight. Flood stage is 10.5 feet.
