Flood Warning Issued for Johnson County, Indiana as Youngs Creek Rises

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis IN has issued a Flood Warning for Youngs Creek at Amity and Haw Creek near Clifford. The alert was issued on the evening of March 3 and remains in effect until further notice.
Affected Areas
The warning specifically impacts Johnson County, Indiana. Impacted locations include Youngs Creek at Amity and the city of Franklin. Specific road closures are expected at Johnson County Roads 350 S and 400 S west of US 31, CR 200 N at CR 75 W, and CR 250 S west of US 31.

Expected Conditions
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain has already fallen, with an additional 1 to 3 inches expected over the area. As of 10:15 PM EST Tuesday, the river stage was 6.7 feet. The river is forecast to rise above the flood stage of 7.0 feet just after midnight tonight. It is expected to continue rising to a crest of 8.8 feet by Wednesday evening.
Anticipated impacts include flood waters possibly 3 feet deep in some areas of the city of Franklin parks. Additionally, the Amity ditch is reported to be out of its banks.
Timeline
The flood warning is effective starting just after midnight on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The river is expected to crest Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service expects to issue the next update by approximately 1:00 PM EST on Wednesday.
