Flood Warning issued by NWS Birmingham AL. Effective from June 20 at 5:09 PM CDT until June 20 at 8:15 PM CDT.
Affected Areas
Jefferson County and Shelby County in central Alabama, including Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Hueytown, Gardendale, Irondale, Fairfield, Fultondale, Pleasant Grove, Tarrant, Midfield, Brighton, Indian Springs Village, Lipscomb, Samford University, Five Points South and U.A.B. Campus.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Heavy rainfall has ended, but multiple creeks and streams remain out of their banks, including Village Creek and Shades Creek.
