* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...Fannin and eastern Grayson counties. * WHEN...Until 500 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is ongoing. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through drainage systems. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Emergency management reported flooding continuing within the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Sherman, Bonham, Denison, Van Alstyne, Howe, Pottsboro, Leonard, Honey Grove, Whitewright, Gunter, Bells, Tom Bean, Savoy, Ector, Trenton, Dodd City, Knollwood, Ravenna, Dorchester and Valley Lake.
What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
