A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Indianapolis IN. The alert is effective from Tuesday afternoon through early Sunday morning.

Affected Areas

The warning covers Daviess, Greene, and Knox counties in Indiana, including the White River at Elliston, Newberry, Edwardsport, and Petersburg, as well as the Eel River at Bowling Green.

Expected Conditions

Minor flooding is forecast. At 18.0 feet, County Road 550 S in Greene County begins to flood. County Road 600 W just north of the river flooded by possibly more than a foot of water for a short distance in Mary Long Cutoff Area.

Timeline

The alert was sent at 8:57 PM EDT on May 18, 2026, and is in effect from Tuesday afternoon (May 19 at 3:40 PM EDT) until early Sunday morning (May 24 at 4:00 AM EDT). The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 17.7 feet early Thursday morning before falling below flood stage Saturday afternoon. Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
