Affected Areas
Charles City, VA; Chesterfield, VA; Henrico, VA; Prince George, VA; City of Colonial Heights, VA; City of Hopewell, VA; City of Petersburg, VA. Specific areas include Southeastern Chesterfield County, Southern Henrico County, West Central Charles City County, Northwestern Prince George County, and the listed cities in central Virginia.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Between 4 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Locations that will experience flooding include Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Fort Lee, Virginia State University, Chester, Ettrick, Meadowville, Birchett Estate and Jordan Point Country Club.
