Flood Warning issued by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO at 10:35 AM CDT May 18, 2026. Effective immediately.

Carroll, Chariton, Linn and Livingston Counties in Missouri, specifically the Grand River near Sumner.

What You Should Do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Expected Conditions

Moderate flooding is occurring and forecast. At 9:45 AM CDT the stage was 34.5 feet. Bankfull stage is 23.0 feet. Flood stage is 26.0 feet. At 28.0 feet rural roads are under water. At 37.0 feet State Highway 139 floods a half mile east of Sumner. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 37.9 feet early Wednesday afternoon.
