Alert Details
A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in New Orleans for the Bogue Chitto River at Franklinton affecting Washington Parish. The alert was sent at 8:59 AM CDT on June 17, 2026, and is effective from Thursday morning through late Saturday night.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Sand bagging is recommended. Sand and gravel operations should be stopped and equipment secured. The National Guard Armory and parish corrections facility will require flood protection measures.
Expected Conditions
Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning to a crest of 14.5 feet Friday morning. At 14.0 feet, there will be minor flooding along both banks, river front property will flood, and access roads to recreational areas will flood. At 8:15 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 7.5 feet. Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet and flood stage is 12.0 feet.
