* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. * WHERE...Southeastern Lincoln County in central New Mexico... Western Chaves County in southeastern New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 930 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 544 PM MDT, the public reported flooding in the warned area, with low water crossings along the Rio Hondo inundated with water and impassable. - This includes feeder creeks and streams into the Rio Hondo. These tributaries may inundate additional low water crossings. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Tinnie, Hondo, San Patricio and Sunset. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

What the agency told people to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
