Flood Warning issued by NWS Salt Lake City UT. Effective from September 28 at 11:02 PM MDT until September 29 at 8:00 AM MDT.
Affected Areas
South Central Garfield County and Eastern Kane County in southern Utah, including Escalante, Boulder, the Escalante River drainage from the headwaters to Powell, Last Chance, Croton Creek, Dry Rock Creek, Coyote Gulch, all slot canyons in the Escalante Drainage, and near Hole-in-the-Rock Road.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
Expected Conditions
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. At 11:00 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, slot canyons, normally dry washes and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Waterways continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
