Flood Warning issued by NWS Lake Charles LA. Effective from June 20, 2026 at 3:52 PM CDT until June 22, 2026 at 6:00 PM CDT.
Affected Areas
Parishes: Avoyelles, Evangeline, Rapides, St. Landry in central Louisiana. Specific locations include Opelousas, Marksville, Bunkie, Simmesport, Melville, Moreauville, Cheneyville, Palmetto, Morrow, Bordelonville, Bayou Current, Effie, Port Barre, Cottonport, Mansura, Washington, Hessmer, Evergreen, Plaucheville and Goudeau.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Stay away from river banks and culverts as they can become unstable.
Expected Conditions
Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall will continue. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.
