* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southeastern Potter County in the panhandle of Texas... Central Randall County in the panhandle of Texas... * WHEN...Until 245 PM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 652 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Amarillo, Canyon, Lake Tanglewood, Mescalero Park and Timbercreek Canyon. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

What the agency told people to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
