Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS New Orleans LA. Effective from June 19 at 9:28 PM CDT until June 20 at 12:30 AM CDT. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Northeastern Washington Parish in southeastern Louisiana and northern Pearl River County in southern Mississippi. Specific locations include Poplarville, Varnado, and Angie.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Due to already very saturated grounds and high rivers, any additional rainfall will quickly turn to run off and lead to flash flooding.
