Alert Details
A Flash Flood Warning (FFW) has been issued by the National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa TX. The alert is effective from June 3, 2026 at 9:29 AM CDT until June 3, 2026 at 12:30 PM CDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers southern Culberson County, central Jeff Davis County, and northern Presidio County in southwestern Texas. Locations that will experience flash flooding include Van Horn, Marfa, Kent, Candelaria, Valentine, Plateau, Bloys Camp, Marfa Municipal Airport, Lobo, and Culberson County Airport.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard includes life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
