Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Blacksburg VA. Effective from August 1 at 10:27 PM EDT until August 2 at 4:30 AM EDT.
Affected Areas
North Central Surry County in northwestern North Carolina; Western Henry County in south central Virginia; Eastern Carroll County in southwestern Virginia; Floyd County in southwestern Virginia; Patrick County in southwestern Virginia; Southwestern Franklin County in west central Virginia. Specific locations include Mount Airy, Flat Rock, Hillsville, Dobson, Stuart, Floyd, and Woolwine.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
