Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Huntsville AL. Effective from June 8 at 5:00 PM CDT until June 8 at 8:00 PM CDT. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Southern Cullman County in north central Alabama. Locations that will experience flash flooding include Hanceville, Good Hope, Dodge City, Garden City, Colony, Bremen, Black Bottom, Smith Lake, Arkadelphia, Wilburn and Walter.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Expected Conditions
At 5:00 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
