Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Tucson AZ. Effective from August 29, 2026 at 6:54 PM MST until August 29, 2026 at 9:45 PM MST. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
South Central Pima County in southeastern Arizona, including Vamori, Cowlic, Choulic, Coldfields, and Indian Route 20 at Cowlic. Western slopes of the Boboquivari Mountains into the lower deserts from Topawa to the International Border, including the Vamori Wash.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen with additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch possible. Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Significant and rapid rises on washes including the Vamori Wash are expected.
