Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Tucson AZ. Effective from August 29, 2026 at 5:38 PM MST until August 29, 2026 at 8:45 PM MST. Alert type code: FFW.
Affected Areas
South Central Pima County in southeastern Arizona, including Topawa, San Miguel, South Komelik, Choulic, Newfield, Coldfields, Fresnal Canyon and Hashan Chuchg. Also includes Route 286 between mile markers 28 and 30 and Indian Route 19 south of Topawa.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Expected Conditions
At 5:38 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Source: Radar indicated. Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
