Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Wakefield VA. Effective from 2026-05-25T21:17:00-04:00 until 2026-05-26T00:15:00-04:00. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.

Charles City County (central), King and Queen County (southeastern), New Kent County (southeastern), Gloucester County (southwestern), James City County, and York County (northwestern) in Virginia.

Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Expected Conditions
At 9:17 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 2.5 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
