Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Little Rock AR. Effective from June 6 at 10:41 PM CDT until June 7 at 1:45 AM CDT. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Northeastern Polk County in western Arkansas and eastern Scott County in western Arkansas. Locations that will experience flash flooding include Mena, Waldron, Opal, Cardiff, Mena Intermountain Airport, Shady, Big Fork, Y City, Boles, Needmore, Parks, Cherry Hill in Polk County, Cedar Creek, Ink, Board Camp, Nunley, Olio, and Union Hill.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
