Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from May 26 at 2:11 PM EDT until May 26 at 5:15 PM EDT.
Affected Areas
Northeastern Meigs County in southeastern Ohio; Northern Jackson County, Wirt County, and Southwestern Wood County in northwestern West Virginia. Specific locations include Elizabeth, Racine, Forked Run State Park, Ravenswood, Sandyville, Chester, Rockport, Morristown, Peewee, Belleville, Reedsville, Portland, Palestine, and Cherry. Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 146 and 169.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free 800 401 9535 when safe.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen with additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches possible. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poor drainage and low-lying areas is ongoing or expected.
