Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Midland/Odessa TX. Effective from 12:59 PM CDT on May 23, 2026, until 4:00 PM CDT on May 23, 2026. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Northwestern Brewster County in southwestern Texas. Locations near and just east of Alpine, including near the intersection of U.S. Highways 67 and 90.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have likely fallen. Storms are nearly stationary.
