Alert Details
A Flash Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio TX. The alert is effective from May 19 at 7:45 PM CDT until May 20 at 12:00 AM CDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Northern Burnet County and Northern Llano County in south central Texas. Locations that will experience flash flooding include Burnet, Llano, Buchanan Dam, Buchanan Lake Village, Castell, Tow, Bluffton, Stolz, Lone Grove, Lake Victor, Baby Head, Sunnylane, Shady Grove, Joppa, Valley Spring, Watson, Briggs and Field Creek.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
Expected Conditions
At 7:45 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard includes life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
