Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Phoenix AZ. Effective from August 12 at 9:38 PM MST until August 13 at 12:30 AM MST. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.

Affected Areas

Maricopa County in south central Arizona. Specific locations include Buckeye and Painted Rock Dam. Low water crossings downstream of Rainbow Wash along Old US 80 and Patterson Road.

What You Should Do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Expected Conditions

At 9:38 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. A Maricopa County Flood Control District streamflow gauge reached alarm stage at Rainbow Wash. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
