Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from August 17 at 10:48 PM EDT until August 18 at 1:45 AM EDT. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Southeastern Logan County in southern West Virginia and western Wyoming County in southern West Virginia. Specific locations include Pineville, Oceana, Man, Amherstdale-Robinette, Mallory, Clear Fork, Coal Mountain, Baileysville, Cyclone and Wolf Pen.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free 800 401 9535 when you can do so safely.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
