A Flash Flood Warning has been issued by NWS Wichita KS. The alert is effective from June 8 at 3:45 AM CDT until June 8 at 9:00 AM CDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Northern Labette County in southeastern Kansas and Neosho County in southeastern Kansas. Locations that will experience flash flooding include Parsons, Chanute, Erie, Altamont, St. Paul, Thayer, Mound Valley, Galesburg, Labette, Earlton, Lake Parsons, South Mound, Dennis, Big Hill Lake, Parsons Tri City Airport and Chanute Airport.
What You Should Do
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Expected Conditions
At 3:45 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
