A Flash Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Honolulu HI. The alert is effective from September 7 at 11:11 AM HST until September 7 at 2:00 PM HST.

The warning covers the island of Kauai in Kauai County. Locations that will experience flash flooding include Lihue, Kapaa, Princeville, Kilauea, North Fork Wailua Trails, Wailua Homesteads, Hanalei, Wailua, Moloaa, Wainiha, Anahola and Alakai Swamp Trails.

Significant rises in water level have occurred along the South Fork of the Wailua River over the past hour due to heavy rain upstream. Heavy rain is diminishing but additional runoff is likely and could lead to flooding issues farther downstream near the river mouth in Wailua.

Timeline

The warning is in effect until 2:00 PM HST on September 7, 2026. This warning replaces the warning previously in effect for the north central portion of Kauai including the Hanalei area.
