Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Topeka KS. Effective from June 9 at 12:14 AM CDT until June 9 at 4:15 AM CDT.
Affected Areas
West Central Shawnee County, Northern Wabaunsee County, Southern Pottawatomie County and Southeastern Riley County in east central and northeastern Kansas. Specific locations include Wamego, Rossville, St. Marys, St. George, Maple Hill, McFarland, Paxico, Belvue, Louisville and Willard, as well as Interstate 70 between mile markers 316 and 350.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement when safe.
Expected Conditions
Thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible. Flash flooding is already occurring in Wamego.
