Alert Details
Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Salt Lake City UT. Effective from 11:16 AM MDT August 31, 2026, until 2:15 PM MDT August 31, 2026. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
West Central Kane County in southern Utah and East Central Washington County in southwestern Utah. Locations include Zion National Park (the Subway, the Narrows) and all slot canyons, creeks, normally dry washes and slot canyons in the warning area.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Life threatening flash flooding of slot canyons, normally dry washes, streams, creeks, and rivers is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
