The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a Flash Flood Warning. It was issued by NWS St Louis MO and is effective from April 27 at 7:59 PM CDT until April 28 at 2:00 AM CDT.
Affected Areas
The warning affects Fayette County in south central Illinois. Specific locations include Vandalia, St. Elmo, Ramsey, Brownstown, Farina, Shobonier, Wrights Corner, Avena, La Clede, Pittsburg, Shafter, St. Peter, Bingham, Hagerstown, St. Paul, Bayle City, St. James, and Loogootee. It also includes Ramsey Lake State Park and highways such as Interstate 70 in Illinois between exits 61 and 76, and Interstate 57 near exit 135.

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have already fallen across the warned area, with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible. The hazard includes flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
