Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV (NOAA). Effective from May 24 at 9:14 PM EDT until May 25 at 1:15 AM EDT. Severity: Severe. Certainty: Likely. Urgency: Immediate.

Affected Areas

Central Raleigh County in southeastern West Virginia, including Mabscott, Sophia, Crab Orchard, Coal City, Macarthur, Beaver, Daniels and Lester. Affected highways include Interstate 64 between mile markers 120 and 122 and West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 37 and 42.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free 800-401-9535 when you can do so safely.

Expected Conditions

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard includes flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
