Alert Details
Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Topeka KS. Effective from June 1 at 12:18 AM CDT until June 1 at 2:30 AM CDT. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Central Lyon County in east central Kansas, including Emporia, Americus, Hartford and Neosho Rapids. Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 121 and 132. Interstate 35 between mile markers 128 and 139.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
