Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX. Effective from June 5 at 7:46PM CDT until June 6 at 12:00AM CDT. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Central Lavaca County in south central Texas. Specific locations include Yoakum, Hallettsville, Ezzell, Sublime, Mont, Worthing, Vsetin, Koerth, Vienna, Wied, Breslau, Sweet Home and Mount Olive.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Social media reports indicate the creeks in and around Hallettsville are out of banks.
