Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Tucson AZ. Effective from August 5, 2026 at 6:19 PM MST until August 5, 2026 at 9:15 PM MST. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Central Cochise County in southeastern Arizona. Specific locations include Elfrida and McNeal. Route 191 between mile markers 18 and 37. Davis Rd between HWY 80 & HWY 191. Streams and drainages: Slavin Wash, Whitewater Draw, Ash Creek, Gadwell Canyon, Haberstock Wash, Reeves Creek, Willow Wash, Henderson Wash, Walnut Gulch and Clifford Wash.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 0.9 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
