Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from 4:20 PM EDT August 17, 2026 until 7:15 PM EDT August 17, 2026. Event code FFW.
Affected Areas
Northwestern Barbour County, northeastern Harrison County, and southwestern Taylor County in northern West Virginia. Specific locations include Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Shinnston, Stonewood, Nutter Fort, Lumberport, Anmoore, Flemington, Despard, Meadowbrook, Meadland, Rosemont, and Galloway. Highways affected: Interstate 79 between mile markers 114 and 127; Route 50 between mile markers 76 and 82.

Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen with additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch possible. Life threatening flash flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses is ongoing or expected.
