Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Lincoln IL. Effective from 2026-06-08T14:59:00-05:00 until 2026-06-08T17:00:00-05:00. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Southern Moultrie County in central Illinois and eastern Shelby County in central Illinois. Specific locations include Shelbyville, Sullivan, Windsor, Findlay, Cowden, Allenville, Clarksburg, Wolf Creek State Park, Kirksville, Mode, and Lakewood.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement.
Expected Conditions
Thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Several roads in Shelbyville are inundated with water. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas is already occurring.
