Alert Details
A Flash Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Pocatello, ID. The alert is effective from August 13, 2026 at 11:58 AM MDT until August 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM MDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Jefferson County, ID and Madison County, ID, specifically the Big Rock burn scar in southeastern Jefferson County and south central Madison County. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Heise.
What You Should Do
This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams, and ditches in the Big Rock Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety.
Expected Conditions
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Big Rock Burn Scar. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the Big Rock burn scar. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
