Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from August 7 at 1:13 AM EDT until August 7 at 4:15 AM EDT.

Affected Areas

Central Jackson County in northwestern West Virginia and east central Mason County in western West Virginia. Specific locations include Ripley, Fairplain, Evans and Given. This includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 132 and 140.

What You Should Do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free 800 401 9535 when you can do so safely.

Expected Conditions

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard is flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
