A Flash Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Flagstaff AZ. The alert is effective from September 28 at 7:56 PM MST until September 29 at 2:45 AM MST.
Affected Areas
The warning covers the Havasu Creek basin in Coconino County in north central Arizona. This includes the Colorado River between river miles 156 and 158, Little Navajo Falls, Mooney Falls, Beaver Falls, Supai, Hualapai Hilltop, Havasupai Reservation, all swimming holes on Havasu Creek near Supai, Little Coyote Canyon, Pasture Wash, and Havasu Creek.
What You Should Do
Campers and hikers should move to higher ground immediately. Stay away from creeks and washes. Foot bridges will be washed out in Supai Campground. Some campsites will be flooded and campers may be stranded in portions of the campground.
Expected Conditions
At 7:56 PM MST, a river gauge on Cataract Creek reported a rapid rise of 5 feet from thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Havasu Creek basin. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Life threatening flash flooding is the primary hazard.
