Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Charleston WV. Effective from 8:02 PM EDT August 2, 2026 until 12:00 AM EDT August 3, 2026. Severity: Severe. Urgency: Immediate. Certainty: Likely.
Affected Areas
Southeastern Fayette County, southeastern Raleigh County, east central McDowell County, and southeastern Wyoming County in southern West Virginia. Specific locations include Babcock State Park, Northfork, Shady Spring, Daniels, Beaver, Stanaford, Piney View, Coal City, Meadow Bridge, Keystone, Anawalt, Ghent, Josephine, Herndon and Maybeury. Highways affected include Interstate 64 between mile markers 123 and 137 and West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 28 and 38.

Expected Conditions
Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Hazard is flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
