FFWFGZ The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Apache County in northeastern Arizona... * Until 545 PM MDT. * At 253 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across Laguna Creek and Tyende creek between Dennehotso and Chinle Wash. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Dennehotso, Diamond Fields and Sand Springs. This includes Highway 160 between mile markers 414 and 420. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Chinle Creek, Tyende Creek, Laguna Creek and Chinle Wash.
What the agency told people to do
Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
