Flash Flood Warning issued by NWS Upton NY effective from 6:35 AM EDT September 13, 2026 until 9:30 AM EDT September 13, 2026.
Affected Areas
South Central Bergen County, Essex County, Hudson County, and Eastern Passaic County in northeastern New Jersey. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Paterson, Passaic, Wayne, Bloomfield, Orange, Paramus, Lyndhurst, Rutherford, Caldwell, Kearny, Hawthorne, Fairfield, Clifton, East Orange, West Orange, Montclair, Belleville, Fair Lawn, Garfield and Livingston.
What You Should Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Expected Conditions
At 6:35 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible.
