Alert Details
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Salt Lake City UT. The alert is effective from August 1 at 1:36 AM MDT and remains in effect until August 2 at 9:00 PM MDT.
Affected Areas
The warning covers Lower Washington County, Zion National Park, South Central Utah, Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity, Western Canyonlands, and Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell.
What You Should Do
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. For outdoor work, schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 911.
Expected Conditions
Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 110 degrees are expected. Warm overnight lows in the 70s will offer little relief. Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
