* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Central Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 1030 PM MDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 424 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
