Big Blue River Near Crete affecting Saline County. .While the water at Crete has fallen below flood stage, the crest continues to work down the channel. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring. * WHERE...Big Blue River near Crete. * WHEN...Until Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Additional flooding of lowland agricultural fields continues. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:45 AM CDT Monday the stage was 18.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:45 AM CDT Monday was 21.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below minor flood stage overnight tonight. - Flood stage is 21.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.9 feet on 08/05/1990. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

What the agency told people to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
