* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing. * WHERE...West Central Mills County in southwestern Iowa... Southwestern Pottawattamie County in southwestern Iowa... Douglas County in east central Nebraska... Sarpy County in east central Nebraska... East Central Saunders County in east central Nebraska... North Central Cass County in southeastern Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 100 PM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 145 AM CDT, emergency management reported in several locations across the Omaha metro. Flooding is already occurring. Between 5 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Omaha, Council Bluffs, Bellevue, Papillion, Ralston, Gretna, Bennington, Boys Town, Elkhorn, Millard, Offutt AFB, La Vista, Carter Lake, Valley, Springfield, Waterloo, Crescent, Cedar Creek, Aksarben and Chalco. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 428 and 454. Interstate 29 between mile markers 43 and 63. What the agency told people to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
