* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northeastern Mills County in southwestern Iowa... South Central Pottawattamie County in southwestern Iowa... * WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 757 PM CDT, the river gage along the West Nishnabotna River near Henderson reports rising water exceeding minor flood stage. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain fell in the area last night. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... areas near the West Nishnabotna River from Carson to Macedonia to Henderson to Hastings, and Old Town Park. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
