The National Weather Service office in Chicago issued a flood warning for Lake in Illinois, in force until 3:30 p.m. local time on October 1. Des Plaines River near Russell affecting Lake IL County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecasted to occur. * WHERE...Des Plaines River from IL/WI state line downstream to US-41 in Gurnee, including the Russell gauge. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet, Agricultural and park land is inundated near the river. Residential property is threatened near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 7.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to continue falling tonight and tomorrow but rise above flood stage again early Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
What the agency told people to do
A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 48 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 48 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
