...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Illinois... Des Plaines River near Russell affecting Lake IL County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecasted to occur. * WHERE...Des Plaines River from IL/WI state line downstream to US-41 in Gurnee, including the Russell gauge. * WHEN...Until Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...At 7.0 feet, Low-lying wetlands and agricultural land is inundated near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 6.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow evening to a crest of 7.4 feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Tuesday afternoon. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 7.4 feet on 02/17/2005. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

What the agency told people to do

A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 48 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 48 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
